May 11, 2012: A Consent Calendar item for the 5/15/12 Board meeting reports that staff continues to investigate alternate shelter sites and there is no new information to report yet. The next substantive update is expected 5/29/12. Please watch for that announcement, See our summary of the 4/17 meeting and some concerning individual Board member comments, now questioning an industrial park option. Where to next? We continue to urge the Board to find a site that will accommodate the 17,000 sq. ft. building program, or the great majority of it; have room for livestock; and be a central, accessible location. Check out our submittal - Essential Animal Functions for priorities that must be retained in a new design for a new site. Check out our position on the major change in direction for the project - We support the change, but the established Shelter needs remain.
